November Multicultural Council of Wellington Meeting With President of Initiatives of Change International
All leaders of cultural organisations are very welcome to attend the November MCW Council meeting. It will commence at 5.30pm on Tuesday 10 November with light refreshments in Meeting Room 1, Wellington City Council, Wakefield Street. Council Business 6.00pm - 6.20pm. Then there will be a presentation by Dr Omnia Marzouk, President of Initiatives of Change International, followed by a facilitated discussion.
Dr Omnia Marzouk is President of Initiatives of Change International and an emergency paediatric consultant at the UK’s largest children’s hospital. She resides in the UK, is originally from Egypt and was educated in Australia.Omnia will share her wealth of experience and knowledge of trust building initiatives across ethnic, cultural and faith communities in the UK and other parts of the world. Omnia’s knowledge and experience will stimulate our thinking about how our city's diversity can benefit the well-being of our city.
Initiatives of Change International is a non-governmental organization (NGO) working for peace, reconciliation and human security worldwide. It has Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, and Participatory Status at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Its main executive office is in Geneva while its national members, from all continents, have offices in their respective countries.
IofC’s global headquarters are in Caux, Switzerland, where it runs an annual series of conferences on issues of human security, learning to live in a multicultural world and on trust and integrity in the global economy. Other international programmes include a women’s initiative, Creators of Peace; an international Farmers’ Dialogue; interfaith and community trust-building dialogues; and an award-winning documentary film production company, FLT films.
