German Bilateral Economic Consultation

A series of bilateral economic consultations were held in Auckland and Wellington from 7 to 9 September by a visiting German delegation.

Dr. Eckhard Franz and Dr. Adrian Bothe from the German Ministry of Economic Affairs met with German and New Zealand business representatives, among them Fonterra and Bayer New Zealand and visited a range of companies and organisations.

They also held extensive talks with members of the New Zealand German Business Association and visited a Maori Exhibition at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. A roundtable discussion with German business leaders in New Zealand also formed part of the programme. A bilateral economic plenum in Wellington was followed by a working lunch with Dr. David Walker (Deputy Secretary Trade) on the topic "Investment and collaboration opportunities in Germany and New Zealand with a focus on SMEs".
